What happens to my property when I’m gone?

If you die without a will in Texas, the Texas statutes provide a plan of distribution for your property. It may not be what you think or want.

You can memorialize your intentions in a variety of ways. Most common are a will and a compilation of documents called an “estate plan.”

A will is a single document which generally describes who will administer your estate (the executor), who receives your property, in what proportions and how you want the general administration of your estate to proceed.
